Job Title: Security and Emergency Specialist

A vacancy has arisen for a Security and Emergency Specialist, reporting to the SHERQ Manager, at our client, an an already established company in heavy industrial manufacturing based in their Durban facility. Interested individuals who meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to submit an online application.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Matric and Policing Diploma/Degree or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in a security specialist role within a manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify, analyze, and record crime trends in the area, including potential events that may impact business operations.
  • Proactively assess risks and threats, recommending countermeasures to prevent incidents.
  • Liaise regularly with SAPS and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including sector members, CPF, station commanders, and community leaders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop emergency response plans tailored to potential threats in the Durban area.
  • Implement and manage security and emergency preparedness technologies, such as access control systems, CCTV, and alarm systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Manage security and VIP protection service providers.
  • Develop and implement new security standards for the Durban plant.

Minimum Critical Requirements:

  • PSIRA registered with a law enforcement background.
  • Firearm license (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Safety and environmental awareness.
  • Coaching and leadership capabilities.
  • A solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
