Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Application Security Specialist to strengthen the security of the software development lifecycle in Port Elizabeth. You will work with development teams to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, embed secure coding practices, and perform security testing to ensure products meet rigorous security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related field; security certs (CSSLP, GIAC) a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in application security or security-focused development.
• Strong understanding of web app security, vulnerabilities, and remediation techniques.
• Experience with Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, SonarQube and secure SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Perform security code reviews and dynamic/static application security testing (DAST/SAST).
• Collaborate with developers to remediate security flaws and guide secure coding practices.
• Develop and maintain security guidelines and standards for application development.
• Integrate security testing tools into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Stay current with OWASP Top 10 and other common vulnerabilities; develop prevention strategies.
• Contribute to security awareness training for development teams.
