Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Sea Logistics Sales Representative with sea logistics sales experience and strong motivation to hunt for new business and take on an evolving role in Durban.

Your Role

In this role, you will acquire, win and retain new customers. As a Sea Logistics Sales Representative of the company, you will maintain close collaboration with key stakeholders and maximize business opportunities to achieve agreed goals. You will spend most of the time in customer-facing activities, hunting for new business, and working hand in hand with the Customer Care Personnel (customer care tasks) on the same customers. You will take pricing decisions in alignment with the Customer Care Manager, and following the Trade Management / Pricing recommendations. You will be the account owner of sales accounts (personally own an account portfolio).

Your Responsibilities

  1. Generate new business opportunities in Sea Logistics with a clear focus on SMEs, as well as maintain and develop the existing customers.
  2. Take pricing decisions in alignment with the Customer Care Managers.
  3. Prepare quotations using our online tools and submit our proposals to the customers.
  4. Develop expert market knowledge and demonstrate superior Sea Logistics products.
  5. Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing and products.
  6. Report customer complaints to the Customer Care Team.
  7. Work and build relationships internally with our other departments: Customer Care, Route Development, Pricing Teams.

Your Skills and Experiences

  1. Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or a similar discipline.
  2. Minimum 2 years' experience in the freight forwarding industry, with a focus on sea logistics sales.
  3. Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills.
  4. Fluency in English language is mandatory.
  5. Strong customer focus and sensitivity towards stakeholder relationships.
