Job description

St Peter’s College is an independent Anglican Diocesan school for boys and girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12.

The school was founded in 1998 to meet the demand for a co-educational high school in northern Sandton.

St Peter’s College offers an integrated and relevant South African high school education.

St Peter’s College is currently seeking to appoint a committed, reliable and hardworking School Shop Manager.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Previous experience in a management or retail position
  • Experience in an educational environment (desirable)
  • Bookkeeping experience is advantageous

Key responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain effective communication with all members of staff, students, parents and suppliers
  • Provide accurate information on current uniform requirements and School services
  • Answer queries from parents and follow up with the appropriate members of staff as required
  • Place orders with suppliers, approve invoices and assist in the reconciliation of accounts
  • Assist in working closely with external auditors to ensure an efficient annual audit and annual stock count is done.
  • Assist in reconciling the College and PA intercompany account monthly to ensure there are no discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation and provision of accurate monthly management accounts to the PA Treasurer for review
  • Negotiate and track any donations to or from the College.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of stock.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Determining appropriate quality control measures for all stock
  • Monitor monthly stock and sales reports with the Finance Manager
  • Assist the Enrolments Office with responding to prospective parents.
  • Liaise with the College on all matters relating to School uniform design and use of the school crest on items.
  • Demonstrate leadership in line management in the Shop staff.
  • Prepare rosters, ensuring adequate staffing is in place for peak times.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal are essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students, teachers, and parents from a range of different backgrounds are essential.
  • Ability to work independently with superior organisational skills, the ability to set goals and prioritize work, and the capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks is essential.
  • An ability to work as an effective and constructive team leader and team member is essential.
  • Self-motivation in setting and accomplishing tasks is essential.
  • A proactive view of customer service and capacity to think analytically to create solutions to improve service delivery and effectiveness is essential.
