Job summary

Advius (Pty) Ltd in Benoni, South Africa, seeks a hands-on Head of Operations to manage day-to-day operations, facilities, and support services of the school. The role partners with the Executive Head to ensure operational excellence across facilities, safety, procurement, and staff management.

The successful candidate will drive health and safety policies, oversee budgets and capital projects, and lead a team delivering a secure, well-maintained environment for learners, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Operations/Facilities/Business Administration or related field.
• Health and Safety certification advisable.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence.
• Minimum 5–8 years in operations, facilities, or general management roles, preferably in educational/hospitality settings.
• Proven experience budgets, contracts, and supplier/vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all non-academic operational functions: facilities, maintenance, grounds, security, and transport.
• Manage and maintain school buildings, infrastructure, and equipment to high standards.
• Develop and implement health, safety, and risk management policies per legislation.
• Manage operational budgets, procurement, contracts, and supplier relationships.
• Lead and manage support staff teams (maintenance, cleaning, security, transport).
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, fire safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate planning and logistics for events and daily operations.
• Oversee SLAs with external contractors and vendors.
• Support capital projects and infrastructure development initiatives.
• Liaise with Executive Head and governing body on operational planning and resource allocation.
• Ensure systems and processes support a safe, productive teaching and learning environment.
