Job description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Scale Operator to join our team.

The Scale Operator will be responsible for accurately weighing and documenting medical waste shipments while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Daily Tasks

1. Receiving waste
2. Checking and storage of waste (Anatomical, Pharmaceutical, etc.)
3. Waste Manifest Administration
4. Ensure the cold rooms are cleaned and disinfected
5. Sending anatomical, cytotoxic, and pharmaceutical waste to third parties for disposal
6. Operate and maintain weighing scales to accurately measure medical waste quantities
7. Ensure all weights are recorded correctly and in compliance with company policies and state regulations
8. Inspect incoming and outgoing waste containers to confirm proper labeling and safety compliance
9. Maintain accurate records and logs of all transactions related to medical waste handling
10. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient processing of medical waste shipments
11. Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
12. Assist with audits and inspections as necessary
13. Participate in training and development to stay informed about industry practices and regulatory changes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in waste management or environmental science is a plus
• Previous experience in a scale operator role or similar position preferred
• Familiarity with medical waste management and regulatory standards is highly desirable
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and data entry
