Job Description

The Montague Gardens Branch requires a committed, hardworking, and trustworthy Scale Buyer to join their team.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Ensure thorough inspection of scrap metal to be purchased and display it openly for photographing.
2. Comply with the Second-hand Goods Act when buying by accurately recording all required information.
3. Verify that captured information and photographs are correct.
4. Sort and grade ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
5. Accurately weigh metals purchased from customers.
6. Identify stolen or inferior materials and report immediately to management.
7. Update customer information accurately.
8. Secure purchased metal immediately after purchase to prevent re-purchasing.

Applicants Must Have the Following Qualifying Criteria:

1. Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
2. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
3. Good numeracy skills.
4. Professional communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
5. Ability to work independently and in a team.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Ability to work quickly and under pressure.
8. Excellent knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
