Position Overview:

As a Data Governance Analyst at the Associate level, you will support the implementation and maintenance of data governance practices that ensure the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of data across the organization. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to enforce data governance policies and enhance data quality while contributing to a culture of responsible digitization. Your role is crucial in helping the firm build trust in its data assets and supporting effective decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Data Governance Support:

  • Assist in implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in monitoring adherence to data governance practices, helping to uphold accountability across the organization.

2.Data Quality Management:

  • Collaborate with data owners to establish and maintain data quality metrics and controls, ensuring that data remains accurate and reliable.
  • Conduct data profiling and quality assessments, identifying issues and supporting remediation efforts where necessary.

3.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Stewards and Data Architects, to ensure alignment on data governance initiatives and standards.
  • Act as a point of contact for data governance inquiries and encourage stakeholder engagement in governance processes.

4.Training and Awareness:

  • Assist in developing training materials and educational programs to increase awareness of data governance best practices among staff.
  • Conduct workshops and presentations to educate teams about their roles and responsibilities related to data stewardship.

5.Data Stewardship Activities:

  • Support data stewards in managing data definitions, lineage, and metadata, ensuring documentation is thorough and up to date.
  • Participate in maintaining a comprehensive data catalog, improving accessibility and usability of data across the organization.

6.Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about relevant data protection regulations and industry standards, assisting in aligning data governance practices with compliance demands.
  • Help in audits and assessments related to data governance, compiling findings and contributing to necessary corrective actions.

7.Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance data governance processes and tools, promoting a culture of innovation and improvement within the team.
  • Provide feedback on existing governance frameworks and contribute ideas for enhancements based on industry trends and best practices.

8.Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain thorough documentation of data governance policies, processes, and controls to ensure transparency and clarity for all stakeholders.
  • Prepare summaries and reports for management on the status of data governance initiatives, compliance levels, and areas for improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional) would be advantageous.
  • Experience: Up to 2 years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or related roles within a complex organizational environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with data management tools and technologies, including data profiling and metadata management software.
