What will you do?

The role's purpose is to provide clients with professional, relevant financial advice, planning, and products suited to their needs. Undertake the procurement of high-quality, sustainable business aligned with set targets. Maintain and service clients to build loyalty and generate ongoing advice and sales. Ensure all activities comply with ethical standards, supporting the growth of the Sanlam Group’s business and brand.

What will make you successful in this role?

1. Assist in growing the Sanlam Adviser Business

  • Support marketing plans and targets for business growth as per the distribution strategy.
  • Use knowledge of market segmentation and customer profiles to support sales within the defined market.

Achieve targets related to:

  • Revenue generation (single and recurring premiums)
  • Activity quotas
  • Promoting the Sanlam brand
  • Treating customers fairly in all engagements
  • Aligning the role with personal career aspirations

2. Networking, prospecting, and lead generation

  • Engage in face-to-face interactions to create business opportunities.
  • Prospect through social or business networks, associations, or presentations.
  • Build trust-based relationships that convert into business.
  • Enhance existing relationships with increased service.
  • Leverage sources across Sanlam’s businesses for opportunities.
  • Create personalized client value propositions.
  • Market on social media platforms.
  • Generate leads through targeted activities and campaigns.
  • Identify marketing gaps and sales opportunities within the middle-high and affluent markets.
  • Request referrals and monitor client activities like maturities or surrenders.

3. Client consultations and sales

  • Ensure compliance and proper disclosures during client interactions.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact-finding and document findings.
  • Perform financial needs analysis using relevant tools or systems, or involve a Para-Planner.
  • Provide sound financial planning advice suited to client needs.
  • Present solutions professionally, adhering to Treating Customers Fairly principles.
  • Use systems to record analysis and update records.
  • Review portfolios annually using the same process.

4. Client Service

  • Maintain ethical, courteous, and professional interactions.
  • Follow up on queries through support channels.
  • Strive for excellent service to retain clients.
  • Continuously update knowledge and skills.
  • Build long-term client relationships with a focus on rapport.

5. Monitoring, updating, and reporting (weekly/monthly)

Document and present:

  • Contacts, appointments, consultations
  • Business issued and revenue against targets
  • Client details updates
  • Workflow and activity entries

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12, with FAIS 'Fit and Proper' requirements and Regulatory Examination passed if registered with FSCA for over 24 months.

Knowledge and Skills

Financial advice, support, target achievement, compliance, client management, financial planning.
