Job description

Salesforce Solution Architect required in Cape Town.

PBT Group is looking for Salesforce Solution Architects with strong technical expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to support and enhance client engagement programmes across the full lifecycle.

These professionals will play a key role in conceptualising, designing, and delivering client communication solutions through Salesforce, with a focus on omni-channel execution and CRM solution governance.

Note: The title includes “Architect” but this does not require traditional enterprise architecture responsibilities. The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, ideal for professionals experienced in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CRM Solution Architecture & Design (Salesforce Marketing Cloud focus)
    • Translate business requirements into engagement journey maps (EJMs).
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of communication journeys using Salesforce tools:
    • Journey Builder, Email Studio, Mobile Studio, Advertising Studio.
    • Architect scalable CRM solutions using Salesforce and related technologies.
    • Integrate Salesforce with external systems and platforms.
    • Ensure solution designs align with business value and architectural standards.
    • Stay up to date on Salesforce and CRM tech trends to drive innovation.
    • Guide junior team members and ensure adherence to platform best practices.
  • Journey Execution and Optimisation
    • Build and execute programmes, campaigns, and prompts on Salesforce.
    • Configure omni-channel journeys (SMS, Email, WhatsApp, In-App).
    • Optimise data extensions and audience targeting within Salesforce.
    • Maintain a single-view client conversation across all interactions.
    • Support QA, testing, and deployment processes for engagement journeys.
  • Engagement Governance
    • Track and report on programme performance and budget usage.
    • Ensure engagement and business rules are consistently implemented.
    • Identify architectural risks and propose mitigation solutions.
    • Maintain documentation and act as custodian of EJM assets.
    • Enhance interaction approval processes and overall platform governance.

Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Salesforce certification (Marketing Cloud essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related field

Ideal:

  • Honours Degree in IT or similar
  • Additional certifications in data, CRM, or marketing technologies

Knowledge Areas:

Essential:

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud (compulsory)
  • CRM systems and engagement platforms
  • Journey mapping and customer lifecycle management
  • Process engineering and systems integration (APIs)
  • Agile methodology

Desirable:

  • CX/CE journey design
  • Digital channel integration (SMS, WhatsApp, In-App)
  • AI-based personalisation or targeting models

Experience Required:

Minimum:

  • 2–3+ years of technical CRM experience in client engagement, preferably Salesforce
  • Experience working across business and technical teams using Agile

Ideal:

  • 2+ years in Customer Engagement solution delivery
  • Cross-functional project experience with CRM platform delivery

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to coordinate, plan, and organise complex tasks
  • Solid stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Clear criminal and credit record
  • Willingness to work in an open plan or remote environment
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license preferred
  • Availability for overtime or occasional travel, if required
  • Equipped and able to work remotely when needed
