Job Function

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, outcome-based training programmes tailored for the Commercial, Logistics and Ports & Terminals teams within the Sub- Saharan Africa (SSA) region. This job involves extensive research, design, development, customization, and delivery of training content to enhance the capabilities and performance of the teams. This job will require at least 60% travel across SSA sites.

Key Performance Areas

Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough needs analysis to identify training requirements specific to the Commercial and Logistics teams. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure training content is relevant and effective.

  • Identify business needs for Commercial, Logistics and Ports & Terminals across the SSA and
  • Develop and implement Commercial, Logistics and Ports & terminals programmes according to identified needs.
  • Formulate a project plan for each programme which includes milestones, budgets and marketing plans to deliver on programme objectives
  • Engage with business and P&C Business Partners to monitor the progress of the programme plans, including risk mitigation and contingency measures where required

Programme Design and Development: Design and develop comprehensive training programmes, incorporating innovative methodologies and technologies to enhance learning outcomes. Customize content to meet the unique needs of the SSA region.

  • Develop and/or maintain all learning & development governance policies, processes and procedures related to Commercial, Logistics and Ports & Terminals.
  • Build, manage and maintain relationships with external service providers that deliver selected services etc.
  • Work closely with the Commercial, Logistics and Ports & Terminals team to align training plans for the year
  • Contribute to the setting of training budgets for Commercial, Logistics and Ports & terminals Programmes, minimize expenditure and manage costs and assets effectively
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including team leaders, subject matter experts, and external vendors, to ensure training programmes align with organizational goals and objectives.

Implementation and Delivery: Deliver training sessions using various formats, including in-person workshops, virtual classrooms, and e-learning platforms. Ensure training delivery is engaging, interactive, and impactful.

  • Liaise with the Learning & Development Governance and Operations team to ensure the effective coordination and delivery of learning initiatives.

Learning Administration, Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all administration and record-keeping activities are completed timeously and in accordance with relevant policies & procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Skills Development, legislative and client-specific criteria and regulations Manage and ensure timeous and accurate reporting on learning and development activities and solutions
  • Prepare and submit required financial reports

Evaluation and Improvement: Continuously assess the effectiveness of training programmes through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Make necessary adjustments to improve training quality and effectiveness.:

  • Identify and drive costs, systems, and process efficiencies for the Commercial, Logistics and Ports & Terminals Training programmes
  • Implement continuous improvement KPIs /metrics for Training programmes
