Responsibilities

What we’re looking for:

  • Selling essential products to customers according to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Trade Route coverage: Swellendam, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Karoo, and Beauford West.
  • Maintain market/share growth and strategize with customers.
  • Negotiate Share of Voice (SOV) on leaflets and social media adverts.
  • Maintain merchandising standards.
  • Manage budget spending and space allocation for our brands.
  • Achieve volume and ad spend budgets.
  • Place orders through clerks/Pace system.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Control stock and manage rotation, including handling short-dated stock and planning for sell-out.
  • Negotiate space and pricing within set parameters, understanding customer margin expectations.
  • Understand margins, net costs, and set Recommended Selling Prices (RSPs).
  • Minimize returns.
  • Follow up on orders, logistics, and resolve debtors’ queries, payments, claims, and pricing issues.
  • Develop strategic thinking regarding opposition brands.
  • Execute sales and marketing campaigns (themes).
  • Focus on direct truck sales versus depot orders.
  • Monitor marketing signage.
  • Manage pallet control discussions with customers (e.g., Chep).
Qualifications

What will qualify you for the role:

  • Three-year qualification in Sales and Marketing or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in grains/wheat or rice sales (raw materials).
  • Experience in key account promotional strategies.
  • Financial literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of the business environment.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Understanding of margins.
  • Strategic thinking abilities.
