Summary:
Drive sales growth and ensure retention of customer base.
FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implementation of Sales Strategy and Plan
- Ensure customer base reaches budget by using influence.
- Keep rebate customers up to date with their sales performance, to help them reach their rebate target.
- Encourage rebate customer to spend more to earn more on rebate.
- Drive sales and customer retention.
- Recruit New Customers in line with set targets
- Manage a set base of customers and call on them as per agreed frequency and plan.
- Sustainably grow sales and margin for assigned group of customers.
- Reactivate dormant customers in line with agreed targets.
- Visit customers as per call schedule requirements.
Business/ Customer Reviews
- Review customer performance on a weekly basis and report back to line manager.
- Monthly feedback session to the line manager on arranged dates and times.
Monthly Reports and Data
- Adhere to all Sales/Margins and review all the information against budget and report monthly.
- Update customer base information daily.
- Compile a detailed monthly report of all monthly activities as agreed with line manager. Submit the report 2 days after month end.
- Ensure Data integrity, load and check customer information on the system. Ensure data is always kept up to date.
Customers Service and Orders
- Maintain customer base through regular interaction as per call schedule.
- Maintain relationships with customers
- Prepare calls before calling on the customer.
- Ensure customers’ needs are understood.
- Manage all customer queries and or complaints timeously and ensure they are kept up to date on progress.
- Place and Follow up on customer orders.
- Keep Store and Merchandise stakeholders informed of any stock returns
- Compile and distribute broadsheets/catalogues to encourage customers to come in and shop.
Product Knowledge
- Ensure always up to date with latest knowledge on stores, features, advantages and benefits of products, uses of products and stock levels.
- Engage with supplier representatives, read journals etc.
New Business and Surveying Target Market
- Survey and canvass areas for new business.
- Recruit new customers each month in line with target.
- Monitor and report back on market trends such as competitor activity, opportunities, threats etc.
- Cold calling with sales material and brochures.
- Actively source new customers in target market using internet etc.
- Follow up on referrals.
- Identify competition in the area.
- Conduct price surveys on competitors.
- Implement SWOT analysis on Customers (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats)
- Complete customer service surveys on a monthly basis.

Requirements:
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
- Matric
- Tertiary qualification advantageous
- A valid Driver’s license
- Proven track record of excellent sales achievements
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant sales experience in a similar customer service or sales role
- Computer literacy (Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Understanding of Retail and wholesale environment
- Relevant driver’s license
