Job description

As the Sales Manager for your assigned Business Unit, you will manage the sales team, including Internal Sales, Business Development Managers, and Account Managers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure target revenue and gross profit achievement in line with company forecasts and budgets.
  2. Manage allocation of customer accounts among sales resources.
  3. Develop high-level relationships with key customers.
  4. Manage assigned "house account" customers to ensure retention and implement strategies to increase customer retention.
  5. Maintain adequate training and certification levels within the sales team to provide accurate product and solution advice.
  6. Provide commission calculations and reports.
  7. Analyze customer report packs and develop strategies to maximize revenues.
  8. Understand the market, competitors, and opportunities.
  9. Mentor and support sales team members to upskill them.
  10. Attend meetings with team members to ensure proper representation of the company.
  11. Supervise and support sales administrators and account managers to ensure customer satisfaction, stability, and growth.
  12. Set sales targets and KPIs.
  13. Research new business opportunities within your BU and relevant industries.
  14. Collaborate with vendors to develop and implement sales plans and strategies.
  15. Develop new business opportunities.
  16. Manage HR-related requirements for your team, including leave planning, performance reviews, and training.
  17. Monitor internal sales resources and workload to ensure response times and quality.
  18. Collaborate with other Business Units to identify customer opportunities and manage shared accounts.
  19. Provide reports as needed by your BU Executive.

HR Responsibilities

  1. Plan leave to ensure BU operations are unaffected.
  2. Provide training on internal systems and reporting.
  3. Conduct performance reviews and address training needs.
  4. Ensure job descriptions are up to date.
  5. Handle HR issues confidentially and according to procedures.

Requirements

  • Complete initial training as per plan.
  • Matric/Grade 12 qualification; sales-related degree or diploma advantageous.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
  • Understanding customer requirements and requirements analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of relevant brand products, customer structure, and the information management industry in South Africa.
  • Experience in the IT distribution channel and sales is advantageous.
  • Office hours from 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
  • Semi-formal dress code and reliable transport.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.

This is a permanent position, subject to a three-month probation period. You are expected to perform duties diligently, adapt to new methods and technologies, and promote the company's interests at all times.
