Purpose of the Job
Manage a team of Sales Consultants to ensure growth of the Brand portfolio across various identified channels by creating and driving brand awareness, consumer pull, and building brands in line with strategic objectives.
Key Result Areas
- Oversee sales, promotions, and campaigns within the assigned area.
- Make data-informed decisions to develop trade plans, drive performance, and inform resource allocation.
- Ensure products and brands are widely available in the assigned sales area.
- Optimize resources to achieve sales targets.
- Develop, monitor, and manage quarterly Sales Plans.
- Analyze and identify growth opportunities with measurement and tracking for reporting.
- Monitor Sales Consultant adherence to call strikerate.
- Develop strong customer relationships through frequent communication, professionalism, and ethical interactions.
- Identify emerging markets for new sales opportunities.
- Procure market intelligence and develop appropriate action plans.
- Monitor Accessibility, Availability, and Affordability compliance versus non-compliance.
- Share and implement innovative ideas to improve sales and team effectiveness.
- Coach Sales Consultants on sales best practices.
- Prepare sales budgets, projections, and approve expenditures.
- Track, analyze, and report sales statistics based on key metrics.
- Conduct in-trade audits to measure team impact.
- Enable teams to gain market share growth.
- Conduct on-the-job training and coaching.
- Plan and direct hiring and training of new Sales Representatives.
- Institute discipline when required.
- Follow policies and procedures, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Educational Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree) in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
Professional Experience and Personal Attributes
- 3+ years of sales experience.
- Relevant experience within the alcoholic beverage or broader FMCG industry is preferable.
- Ability to identify and define problems and make balanced, sound decisions.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong numerical and business acumen.
- High energy, persistence, drive, and a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-performance, competitive environment.
- Exceptional planning and execution skills.
- Excellent negotiating skills to gain commitment through influencing and networking.
- Passion for customer service, prioritizing client needs.
- Ability to coach, inspire, lead, and transform teams towards shared goals and vision.
- Effective communication across all levels and managing customer relationships.
