Position Overview
The main purpose of this position is to grow the VSD business through strategic sales management and to oversee the sales activities of the VSD sales representatives. The Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring the sales team achieves the sales budget.
Additional Responsibilities
The Sales Manager also assists with:
- Technical queries (Strong Application Knowledge required)
- Product launches (Order all marketing materials)
- Technical presentations
- Trade shows
- Market research and price trend analysis
- Managing customer relationships within the customer base
Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrange and lead regular Sales and Project meetings
- Attend management meetings as required
- Manage sales activities of VSD staff, including leading, organizing, and planning sales activities
- Recruit, select, and employ sales staff
- Train new sales staff internally and externally
- Review and assign sales territories, industries, and customer accounts
- Implement and oversee training schedules for sales staff
- Conduct bi-annual and annual performance reviews
- Hold monthly KPI meetings with the sales team
- Develop and maintain sales systems, including CRM updates and systematic quote follow-up
Planning and Strategy
- Set and execute sales strategies to ensure continued growth
- Prepare monthly sales forecasts
- Develop annual budgets per sales representative
- Assist with pricing policies
- Coordinate project information across divisions
- Stay updated on competitors, market trends, and developments
Motor Representatives
Plan and manage integrated sales activities across departments and group companies, including joint customer visits.
Distributors, Agents, and System Integrators
- Select and appoint distributors
- Develop plans to enhance skills of existing distributors, agents, and system integrators
- Create strategies for future appointments
Technical and Sales Analysis
Participate in RFQ discussions, technical product selection, and quarterly sales analysis by various parameters.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric and N6 Electrical or equivalent, with over five years' experience in Drives and Controls
- Strong general understanding of the business

- Legal driver's license
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Customer service orientation with a sense of urgency
- Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays
