Job Overview: The Sales Manager leads the sales team to achieve sales goals and drive growth by building strong relationships with new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and executing sales strategies.
  2. Managing daily operations.
  3. Providing training and motivation.
  4. Optimizing team performance.
  5. Customer relationship management.
  6. Collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  7. Analysing market trends to improve sales efforts and maximize results.

Business Knowledge:

  1. Sales Strategies: Understanding of various sales methods (e.g., consultative selling, Omni-channel sales, B2B sales, upselling) and how to apply them to different markets or customer segments.
  2. Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of the products or services being sold, including features, benefits, and how to address customer needs.
  3. Market and Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry trends, customer behaviour, and competitor activities to make strategic decisions and stay competitive.
  4. Financial Acumen: Ability to understand and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial metrics to ensure sales targets align with business objectives.
  5. Customer Segmentation: Knowledge of how to segment customers based on demographics, buying behaviour, or other criteria to tailor sales efforts effectively.
  6. Sales Metrics: Familiarity with key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rates, average deal size, sales cycle length, and customer acquisition costs.
  7. Technology Tools: Knowledge of sales and marketing tools, CRM software, analytics platforms, and communication tools to optimize team efficiency and sales operations.
  8. Marketing Alignment: Understanding of how sales and marketing departments collaborate to drive demand generation and lead conversion.
  9. Legal and Compliance: Awareness of legal aspects of sales contracts, negotiations, and ensuring the sales process follows company policies and industry regulations.
  10. Talent Development: Knowledge of coaching, training, and performance evaluation techniques to help develop team members and enhance their skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Grade 12 B Comm.
  2. Degree / Studying towards a relevant Business Degree or Diploma.
  3. In-depth knowledge of sales management.
  4. Minimum of 10 years of sales experience.
  5. Minimum of 5 years sales management experience.
