COMPANY DESCRIPTION : Our client is a multi-vendor, value-added solutions provider with branches in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town offering Managed IT Services.

They are looking for a Sales Manager to join their branch in Sandton, Johannesburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

To efficiently manage the sales team in accordance with the company strategy.

Driving results through people: The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and motivating a team of sales representatives to achieve and exceed sales targets. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and sales management skills to develop and execute effective sales strategies.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
  1. Budgets: Formulate a budget on an annual basis, developed from a business plan in accordance with the company strategy.
  2. Sales team management / Sales target achievement: Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing sales team. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to sales representatives. Set and track individual and team sales targets. Monitor sales performance and identify areas for improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.
  3. Customer Centric: Ensure the company image is constantly maintained at a high standard and sales teams remain focused in accordance with their relevant target market.
  4. Product Centric: Maintain brand sales in accordance with the company strategy. Create and implement monthly sales initiatives.
  5. Employee Centric: Maintain a high level of morale and motivation amongst all employees. Always promote the company and ensure staff do the same.
  6. Inventory Control: Monitor, control and oversee stock on reserve, backorders, ETAs. Monitor and increase sales sell-out strategies on aging product lines.
  7. Training: Offer / ensure training is carried out on a regular basis, updating company records.
  8. Monthly Staff Reviews: Review staff monthly target achievement. Mentoring and training of staff.
  9. Accounts Receivables / Credit Applications: Minimize risk and exposure through company policy and procedure. Constantly review age analysis, ensuring collaboration between sales teams and accounts department. Liaise with customers to maintain AR customer relations with regards to outstanding payments. Monitor and oversee the credit application process on Tradeshield.
  10. Expense Control: Consistently monitor expense control through financial analysis of management accounts on a monthly basis.
  11. Information Technology: Maintain systems with the assistance of the central IT department, feedback problem areas and ensure all users are trained and working efficiently. Ensure reliable backups are taking place and kept off site.
  12. Commissions: Submit commission sheets timeously to HR for the sales team on a monthly basis. Make sure sales staff have a copy of the commission sheet as a motivator and for performance discussions.
  13. Sales meetings: Conduct meetings on a weekly basis, ensuring the smooth flow of the business and give all staff the opportunity to voice their opinions.
  14. HR: Where necessary conduct disciplinary hearings, work performance discussions and monthly staff reviews of previous month achievement within the first 3 days of month end. Mentoring the sales team to achieve target, staff development and succession planning, staff recruitment.
  15. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives. Conduct market research and identify new business opportunities. Analyze customer needs and preferences to tailor sales approaches. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners.
  16. Sales Process Management: Oversee the sales process from lead generation to closing. Ensure that sales representatives follow established sales methodologies and best practices. Implement CRM systems and tools to track sales activities and performance. Analyze sales data to identify trends and optimize sales processes.
  17. Sales Reporting: Prepare regular sales reports and provide updates to management. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement. Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities.
  18. Team Motivation and Development: Create a positive and motivating work environment for the sales team. Recognize and reward high performance. Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork. Encourage continuous learning and professional development.
  19. Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales team, including territory assignments, quota setting, and resource allocation. Address operational queries and issues raised by sales representatives. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage sales budgets and expenses.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

Grade 12, Relevant tertiary qualification.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

Minimum 3 years management experience within the IT environment. The ability to work under pressure and to make sound business decisions. Performance management and good people skills. Good interpersonal and communications skills. Above average computer literacy. Ability to read and interpret financial statements. Self-motivated. A leader who leads from the front, developing high standards.
