Key Responsibilities
- Partnership Management and Development: Identify and engage potential partners, including farmers, cooperatives, research institutions, and NGOs. Build and maintain collaborative relationships to advance shared goals. Organize meetings, workshops, and presentations to promote SoilLogia's biochar initiatives.
- Project Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of biochar-related projects across South Africa. Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource plans. Track project performance and ensure compliance with company objectives and regulations.
- Research and Development: Support trials and studies assessing the impact of biochar on soil health and carbon sequestration. Collaborate with academic institutions and research partners. Analyze data and contribute to the evolution of new biochar applications and techniques. Stay current with developments in carbon removal and regenerative agriculture.
- Communication and Outreach: Design and implement strategies to increase awareness of biochar's benefits among local communities and stakeholders. Prepare reports, educational materials, and presentations to share findings and progress. Work with the marketing team to boost SoilLogia's visibility in the region.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure projects adhere to local environmental standards and regulatory frameworks. Generate regular reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders on project progress and outcomes.
- Capacity Building: Train partners and communities on biochar production and usage. Facilitate educational programs and workshops to strengthen local expertise in climate-smart agriculture and carbon removal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in program or project coordination, ideally within the agricultural, environmental, or development sectors.
- Strong understanding of sustainability practices, carbon removal, and/or biochar technology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; proficiency with project management tools.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with the South African agricultural landscape, environmental policy, and rural community dynamics.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-sector partnerships.
- Adaptability in dynamic and evolving startup environments.
