Overseeing the daily running of the sales team, including all reporting and admin-related tasks. The focus of the role is to gain new accounts, manage existing accounts, meet/exceed sales targets, plan to meet sales objectives, represent the company at meetings or engagements, and mentor and motivate the sales team.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 / Relevant qualification
3+ years experience within the direct sales construction sector
Must have direct experience in Sales in Construction / products etc.
Proven track record of meeting large targets
Experience working with various contracts
Main Responsibilities:
Managing the day-to-day operations of sales personnel, including:
Dedicated, steady reporting to Snr Sales Manager and Directors
Planning of daily workflow
Management of staff - providing clear, directive instructions, training, and overseeing performance
Preparation for weekly meetings with Directors, Snr Sales Manager, and Sales team
Weekly meetings with various teams
Reporting on team performance, including current vs target, variance, and action plans
Identifying developmental needs within the team and taking action in line with company standards
Finding ways to motivate the team to exceed sales targets
Encouraging basket sales in markets (full range of products: cement products, clay products, readymix)
Interacting with all customers (new, potential, established)
Being proactively involved in all aspects of the sales team
Implementing new promotions as directed and suggesting promotions for consideration
Maintaining thorough communication with customers, the sales team, and directors
Monthly Responsibilities:
Submission of final reports and planning for the new month
Preparing for new month target discussions with the sales team as provided by FD, ways to attain/exceed targets, scheduling site visits, meetings, and engagements
Anticipating and planning for possible scenarios in retail, RDP, municipal sectors and reporting
Weekly Responsibilities:
Log Book check for company vehicles of the team
Meetings with Directors, Snr Sales Manager, and team: addressing reports/staff matters and summarizing any general matters
Signing off salary information regarding overtime and commissions
Meeting with the team individually and in a group setting (where possible) to discuss matters from previous meetings
Daily Responsibilities:
Discussing planning with the Senior Sales Manager and providing continual reporting throughout the day
Responding to all written enquiries (Text/Email/WhatsApp) in a timely manner
Reporting all staff matters immediately
Reporting on actual vs target and action plans to fill gaps
Ensuring all admin functions are carried out efficiently and within company parameters
Overseeing the sales portfolio - managing queries, discounts, upcoming projects, quotations, and following up on leads
Relationships:
Sales Manager direct reports to Directors and Snr Sales Manager
Oversees all sales teams and associated functions
Maintains relationships with existing and potential customers
