Purpose of Job: To maintain and grow market share concerning the corporate franchise, certain supermarket chains, and independent client bases within the designated area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales & Marketing
- Actively canvassing and cold calling extensively by area on all potential customers as allocated on the "Account Allocation Chart".
- Actively acquiring new and opposition franchisees (Spar and OK Foods) and growing the market share.
- Replacing equipment older than 5 years.
- Advising clients on and selling new value-adding products that could enhance their businesses.
- Obtaining planned rollouts for the year from clients in the designated region, and targeting new franchise stores through meetings, visits, and cold calling for marketing and sales purposes.
- Negotiating pricing with clients within given parameters.
- Calling on between 10 – 15 customers per day (i.e., 60 per week).
- Keeping the market share reports updated.
- Selling all equipment & consumables to customers as per the budget.
- Visiting customers Monday to Thursday, and meeting with the Branch Manager on Fridays for sales management meetings.
- Project Management
- Ensuring service is provided to new clients and that installations are completed effectively and in accordance with the Installations Checklist.
- Checking that invoicing is done correctly from the sales order filled out by the Sales Executive and that the invoice, along with the Checklist, is completed.
- Ensuring that signed confirmation is received from the Service Manager and the customer representative that installation has been completed effectively.
- Customer Relations
- Maintaining sound relations with existing clients by visiting and/or calling each at least 4 times annually.
- Ensuring client satisfaction with the service provided, reporting problems to the relevant Service Manager, and escalating to the Branch Manager if needed.
- Managing customer complaints and ensuring effective resolution of issues to maintain sound customer relations.
- Reporting and Feedback
- Regularly meeting with the Branch Manager to discuss results and sales metrics, e.g., the 1st Friday after the release of Sales Metrics and subsequent Fridays.
- Providing formal written reports updating the minutes of each meeting.
- Reporting weekly to the Branch Manager on events and activities, including clients visited, status, and comments.
- Updating and maintaining the accuracy of the "Spar Members List" and "OK Foods Members List".
- Discussing general strategy regarding new product launches and exhibitions during meetings.
- Arranging meetings between customers and international suppliers when required.
- Cost Management
- Providing inputs to the Branch Manager and/or Finance Department to ensure effective budget compilation.
Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge:
- Grade 12
- At least 1-3 years of sales experience
