Job description

Sales Engineer – Past Extrusion & Milling, Bakery - FHT

  1. Responsibilities / Tasks
  2. Plan and execute direct marketing and sales activities within agreed budgets (Order intake, Sales, Gross Margins).
  3. Achieve sales targets and focus on growth opportunities across the Southern and Eastern Africa regions.
  4. Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned visits and liaising with internal order-processing staff.
  5. Increase market penetration and coverage via regular face-to-face meetings with customers and prospects (Maintain iBase customers and Business Development).
  6. Conduct market research on competitors and market surveys.
  7. Manage the complete sales cycle—from initial customer contact to Service Level Agreement post-project execution.
  8. Maintain customer and opportunity data on GEA SharePoint and record all sales activities on the CRM platform.
  9. Demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach to completing tasks efficiently.
  10. Adopt a 'Hunter' mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  11. Develop sales and marketing ideas and proposals for all accounts.
  12. Respond promptly to sales inquiries via phone, email, and personal visits.
  13. Monitor and report on sales activities, providing relevant management insights.
  14. Coordinate with other company functions for order processing, transportation, delivery, and installation of equipment.
  15. Build a network of contacts across disciplines for resource advice within and outside the organization.
  16. Maintain confidence in challenging situations, persuade others, and foster innovative solutions to problems.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Technical or marketing tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in similar roles.
  • Extensive front-line sales experience in a technical environment.
  • Proven sales success and a comprehensive understanding of the entire sales process in a multinational context (ordering, pricing, CRM).
  • Experience in international negotiations and contracting across multiple countries.
  • Strong grasp of corporate finance and performance management principles.
  • Technical sales experience in the Food and Healthcare industries is advantageous.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Broad international business understanding with a focus on customer needs and satisfaction.
  • Open-minded, solution-focused, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Team-oriented, skilled networker, and negotiator.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong sales orientation.
  • Customer-centric approach, capable of engaging at various organizational levels.
  • Good commercial acumen and a deep understanding of global compliance regulations.
