Position Overview
As a Sales Engineer, you will position Mimecast's solutions as business benefits relevant to the audience and decision makers, including CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, CFOs, Technical Teams, and Sales personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver meaningful and impactful technical and product demonstrations.
- Achieve trusted technical advisor status within customer engagements, especially with CISO and security teams.
- Identify and mitigate all technical risks associated with Mimecast implementations to improve sales closure ratios and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Build pre-sales competencies within Mimecast and Channel Partner sales teams.
- Build relationships and network effectively.
- Contribute strategically to the evolution of the Sales Engineering Department within South Africa.
- Contribute to the Sales Engineering best practice knowledge base.
- Enhance organizational security knowledge.
- Contribute to customer acquisition case studies and product evangelism initiatives.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience in a reputable technology vendor or reseller within a corporate IT environment.
- Experience in technical demonstrations and presentations to customers.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Technical sales support or technical experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to a business-focused audience.
- Proactive, self-sufficient, and flexible with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Experience working with demanding business customers and in a pre-sales environment.
- Experience in consultative selling of complex services.
- Industry-specific knowledge of security, email infrastructure, email security, and cloud computing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft-based infrastructures and security landscape.
- Experience with email systems such as Microsoft Exchange (preferred) and Google G-Suite (optional).
- Understanding of email archiving solutions, spam, viruses, email security, and threats.
- Familiarity with networking and security technologies.
- Strong security technology background is preferable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- B-Tech in IT or similar.
- MCSE, MCITP, or equivalent certifications.
- CISSP or equivalent certification preferred but not essential.
