Our client is a progressive engineering firm specializing in construction, consulting, and Independent Power Producer (IPP) services.

With a robust presence in South Africa and an expanding international footprint, the company is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that drive sustainable development and empower communities. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Sales Engineer to join our client's dynamic team.

The successful candidate will expand the company's reach, cultivate strategic partnerships, and drive revenue growth in the construction, consulting, and IPP sectors within the South African market.

This role involves selling technical products and services, translating complex technical information for customers, and demonstrating how products can solve specific problems.

The Sales Engineer will provide technical insights on deployment and implementation, effectively communicating the company's value proposition.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Identify and qualify potential leads through research, networking, and outreach.
  2. Develop targeted sales pitches and presentations to effectively communicate the company's value proposition.
  3. Promote and sell equipment, products, and solutions to prospective and current clients using technical knowledge and commercial experience.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and anticipating future requirements.
  5. Identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and review sales performance.
  6. Prepare, schedule, coordinate, assign, and monitor enquiries, quotations, orders, projects, and deliveries.
  7. Stay informed about the latest industry developments and share this knowledge with the team.
  8. Represent the technical aspects of products and solutions, demonstrating their benefits to customers.
  9. Collaborate with design, production, engineering, and R&D departments to tailor products and services to customer needs.
  10. Expand sales territories and develop strategies to market products and deliver superior customer experiences.
  11. Track sales performance to determine the extent of marketing support required.
  12. Conduct market research on competitors' products.
  13. Identify new sales and marketing channels and technologies to promote the business.

Entry Requirements:

  • Graduates of technical disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
  • 10+ years of sales-related experience in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Experience selling electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment to mines, municipalities, and construction companies.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; French is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently and in a team, and perform under pressure.

Salary: R35 – R50 Basic Salary + Commission + Structured benefits
