Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Director specializing in Refractory and SCF. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key accounts, and developing strategic partnerships within the refractory industry. This role requires a deep understanding of refractory materials, particularly graphite-based products including Green Sand and their applications in high-temperature industrial processes.

Responsibilities

  1. Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets for refractory and SCF products.
  2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the refractory and SCF market.
  3. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.

Account Management:

  1. Manage and grow key customer accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  2. Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within client organizations.
  3. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and resolving any issues that arise.

Business Development:

  1. Expand the customer base by identifying and targeting potential clients in various industries such as steel, glass, ceramics, and petrochemicals.
  2. Coordinate and lead the South African sales and project team.
  3. Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential sales opportunities and follow up on leads.
  4. Collaborate with the marketing team to create and implement promotional campaigns and materials.

Technical Expertise:

  1. Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding the selection, application, and optimization of refractory materials.
  2. Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and training sessions for clients and industry stakeholders.
  3. Work closely with the R&D team to stay updated on new product developments and innovations.

Reporting and Analysis:

  1. Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  2. Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  3. Monitor competitor activities and market conditions to inform strategic decisions.

Requirements

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of sales and account management experience in the refractory industry with a focus on the steel industry.
  3. Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of refractory materials and their industrial applications.
  4. Skills:
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
