The Opportunity

The Sales Director (SABU) ensures that the assigned region meets or exceeds sales and profitability objectives. This role formulates sales strategies for markets within the assigned geography and product lines to attain revenue goals set by the company. Works with sales representatives to identify and evaluate market opportunities and sales potential and to establish and achieve their annual sales objectives for the South African Business.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Leadership and Talent Development: Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent in the region. Provide direction and guidance to staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement the organization's sales strategy to achieve business targets.
  • Sales Activities: Plan, direct, and monitor sales activities, providing monthly feedback on performance.
  • Sales Administration: Manage sales administration, customer service, distributions, credit collections, and invoicing.
  • Leadership: Provide direction and guidance to staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Build strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Operational Planning: Make decisions regarding work processes or operational plans to achieve department objectives.
  • Business Planning: Prepare and discuss annual business plans with the African sales team.
  • Pricing Strategy: Establish and adjust selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.
  • Warehouse Operations: Manage warehouse operations to ensure efficient supply and demand of products.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Health Sciences and an additional business-related qualification.
  • 5-7 years of sales and business development experience within the IVD or Medical Devices Space is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ people/leadership management is essential.
  • Experience with the Ministry of Health and Public programs is essential.
  • Proficiency in project management, communication, influencing, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
  • Technical skills in report writing, PowerPoint, and business-related computer skills.
  • Language skills: English and relevant local language.

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to interact with external and internal customers and partners.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to overcome cultural and language barriers to provide effective solutions.
  • Experience in conducting and handling audits and inspections.
