Job Title : Sales Consultant – Laparoscopic Medical Devices | Johannesburg North

Job Location : Gauteng, Johannesburg | Deadline : August 16, 2025

Job Description

Areas Of Responsibility :

  1. Responsible for the sales of Laparoscopy, Surgical & Surgimed products, including maintaining and growing existing business and expanding sales within the assigned territory.
  2. Scheduling and attending appointments with existing and potential customers.
  3. Demonstration of products to Clinical personnel.
  4. Completion of weekly planner and activity report for submission to direct manager.
  5. Achieving Sales Targets.
  6. Networking with and developing relationships with new customers and managing existing customers.
  7. Counting and Management of consignment stock.
  8. Requesting and following up on quotations.
  9. General Administration associated with the position.
  10. All activities to be recorded on Force Manager CRM.

Duties & Responsibilities :

Marketing :

  1. Assist the National Product Manager with journal clubs, workshops, VISTA meetings, and conferences as needed.
  2. Assist Sales Managers with sales budgeting per territory for the SBU.
  3. Implement tactical and strategic plans effectively.
  4. Conduct marketing activities including congresses, customer workshops, and educational events.
  5. Make daily calls to customers and prospects.
  6. Promote all products offered by the company effectively.
  7. Utilize sales knowledge to highlight product features and benefits.
  8. Evaluate and report on competitors’ products and drive strategic responses.

Customer Relations :

  1. Establish and maintain networks with hospital stakeholders: physicians and key opinion leaders.
  2. Build and sustain strong relations with all stakeholders, including customers, payers, government, and employees.
  3. Attend appointments with customers and prospects.
  4. Report to Sales Managers regarding customer interactions.
  5. Gather customer requirements to ensure satisfaction.
  6. Assist in congresses and training workshops.
  7. Manage relationships with customers, prospects, and key opinion leaders.
  8. Maintain communication with internal departments such as Customer Services, Finance, Logistics, and Management.
  9. Use customer profiling tools to grow product families aligned with customer needs and business strategy.
  10. Identify suitable customers for product training to ensure ROI.

Sales Reports and Administration :

  1. Meet monthly and quarterly sales budgets for the SBU.
  2. Achieve annual sales targets.
  3. Assist with tender input, quotes, and other administrative tasks.
  4. Submit expense claims timely with correct allocations.
  5. Provide monthly and weekly reports as specified.
  6. Ensure compliance with SOPs, regulations, and ethical standards.

Sales Representative Role :

  1. Maintain motivation and implement marketing functions effectively.
  2. Prepare and deliver presentations at meetings.
  3. Support sales managers with product and clinical queries.
  4. Manage your portfolio in line with company values.

Training Events :

  1. Identify and organize educational events for growth.
  2. Manage workshop activities with the sales team and customers.
  3. Train new customers on product ranges.
  4. Participate in planning and executing congresses and educational events.

Reports :

  1. Adhere to credit policies and maintain administrative responsibilities.
  2. Ensure all activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
  3. Manage expenses within the provided budget.
  4. Record all activities in Force Manager CRM and submit monthly reports.

Stock Management :

  1. Assist with stock rotation, slow-moving identification, and returns.
  2. Provide feedback on stock requirements and management of consignment stock.
  3. Manage boot stock and ensure stock rotation to prevent expiration.
  4. Evaluate and manage procedural kits if implemented.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications :

  1. Grade 12 (Matric) minimum requirement.
  2. Relevant degree or diploma is advantageous.
  3. Medical management or marketing qualifications are a plus.

Skills and Experience :

  1. Experience in theatre-based selling is essential.
  2. Knowledge of laparoscopy and emergency medical devices is advantageous.
  3. Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  4. Negotiation, project management, and analytical skills.
  5. Understanding of marketing practices and business drivers.
  6. Ability to work independently and in teams, with discretion and sound judgment.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  8. Willingness to travel extensively within the country and abroad.
  9. Results-driven with strong leadership qualities.
