Sales and Business Development Manager
Our client, a leading player in the recycling industry, is establishing a cutting-edge recycling plant and is looking for a seasoned Sales & Business Development Manager to be based at one of two sites: Ballito or Lanseria.
This facility, with a capacity to process 35 tons of recycled PET material annually, represents a significant milestone in our client's expansion into the African recycling market.
The construction commenced in summer, with an expected completion date in autumn. The candidate should be able to travel when required and should already be based in either area.
In this role, you will focus on developing the customer base for our rPET food-grade resin, PET clean flakes, and associated by-products.
Your responsibilities will include:
You will collaborate closely with the Production department to tailor materials for specific customer needs, work with the Quality department on efficient disposal methods for off-spec material, and liaise with Procurement to align PET bottle quality with finished products and customer requirements.
Your goal will be to maximize sales, targeting the full capacity of 35 tons per year between rPET resin and flakes.
Minimum of 5 - 10 years' experience in Sales & Business Development within an international manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic recycling, plastic industry, or food packaging.
Note that only Manufacturing experience will be considered. An established network within the Manufacturing industry and deep knowledge of processes is critical. Leadership experience is preferred but not mandatory, as this role does not have direct reports.
Educational background in a technical or commercial field, with a focus on sales (Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent). Proven track record in B2B sales within the recycling or related industries, including experience in setting up new operations or plants and expanding market presence.
Strong relationship-building skills with a history of establishing profitable partnerships. Excellent customer service orientation with a commitment to professionalism and quality. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and proactively solve challenges. Willingness to thrive in a dynamic and demanding environment.
