Job summary

A leading global supplier in the mining and infrastructure industries, Sandvik Group is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in Gauteng. You will provide technical support, maintaining and improving equipment for high reliability and performance. Ideal candidates will hold a Grade 12 or N3 Technical Qualification and have relevant experience with underground machines and mechanized drive trains.

Job description

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier of equipment, tools, parts, service, and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries.

Our applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling, and quarrying.

The Role

Provides technical support in Mechanical Maintenance.

Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or maintain high reliability, availability, cost efficiency, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical maintenance operations.
• Conducting preventive maintenance, performing corrective actions, supporting planning and preparation, monitoring outcomes, and documentation (outcome, root cause, time, improvements).
• Working in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Achieving maintenance targets.
• Communicating operational status and deviations.
• Following safety and housekeeping (5S) standards.
• Driving continuous improvements and development on personal and operational levels.

Profile Required

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification.
• Section 13 or 26D Millwright Trade Certificate, with proof of apprenticeship, portfolio of evidence, or transcript.
• Relevant experience in underground machines.
• Experience with mechanized Drive Trains.
• Experience in assembly and commissioning of LHD machinery.
• Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining/construction environments.
