Job Description
Purpose Statement: Coordinate, facilitate, and lead the strategic development, tactical implementation, and financial planning of all Sales and Marketing activities related to the Brand Strategy. Manage customer and other commercial activities, including leading and coaching the Sales Force to maximize brand sales and margins, always placing the patient at the center of efforts while operating within AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, laws, and regulations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute all marketing and sales activities for the Eye Care and Specialty Care franchises according to the franchise plan, including developing and implementing commercial Brand strategies and tactics to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Collaborate with relevant country leads to incorporate local insights into brand strategy planning and execution, aligning on franchise vision and strategic objectives.
- Set future direction for existing and new products to maximize business results and support market expansion through innovative commercial programs.
- Develop insights on brand issues, competitive positioning, customer segments, and market development.
- Develop business cases for pipeline brands within Eye Care and Specialty Care.
- Manage in-field team operations and KPIs to improve sales performance and business sustainability.
- Ensure regular updates on sales team skills and knowledge in medical, technical, and field expertise.
- Coordinate the preparation of franchise financial plans, including Financial Plans, Focus/Update, and Long Range Plans.
- Build and manage cross-functional cooperation among key stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and effective market intelligence flow to the Brand Teams for strategy optimization.
- Manage Key Account Management strategies with healthcare institutions to promote the Specialty Care portfolio.
- Design and implement digital marketing activities, including innovative tactics, partnerships, and multi-channel initiatives to meet brand objectives.
- Execute Distributor Governance processes, including distributor onboarding and compliance controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Proven success in marketing within the biotech/pharmaceutical/Eyecare industry in Sub-Saharan Africa, across multiple brands and teams.
- Result-oriented, detail-focused, accurate, agile, and deadline-driven.
- Ability to translate strategies into actionable marketing plans.
- Leadership skills to motivate and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Experience in business case development and product launches.
- Knowledge of healthcare and FMCG environments and evolving landscapes.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Solid understanding of strategic and tactical marketing principles, including digital marketing.
- Knowledge of finance principles and analytical decision-making skills.
- Experience in FMCG.
- Experience in Digital Marketing.
