Job Description
Purpose Statement: Coordinate, facilitate and lead the strategic development, tactical implementation, and financial planning of all Sales and Marketing activities related to the Brand Strategy. Manage customer and other commercial activities, including leading and coaching the Sales Force to maximize brand sales and margin, placing the patient at the center of efforts, and operating within AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, laws, and regulations.
Qualifications & Major Responsibilities
- Manage and execute all marketing and sales activities for the Eye Care and Specialty Care franchises as per the franchise plan, including development and implementation of commercial Brand strategies and tactical activities to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Liaise with country leads to integrate local insights into brand strategy, facilitate alignment of franchise vision, and strategic objectives.
- Set future directions for existing and new products and business opportunities to maximize results.
- Support product market expansion through innovative commercial programs.
- Develop understanding of Brand issues, competitive positioning, customer segments, and market development.
- Develop business cases for pipeline brands within Eye Care and Specialty Care as needed.
- Manage in-field team operations and KPIs to improve sales performance and sustainability.
- Ensure regular updates on sales team skills in medical, technical, and in-field knowledge areas.
- Coordinate preparation of franchise financial plans, including Financial Plan, Focus/Update, and Long Range Plan.
- Foster cross-functional cooperation among key stakeholders.
- Ensure timely market intelligence flow to and from Brand Teams to optimize strategy execution.
- Manage and develop strategic plans for Key Account Management with healthcare institutions to promote the Specialty Care portfolio.
- Design and implement digital marketing activities, including innovative tactics, partnerships, multi-channel, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Execute Distributor Governance Process effectively: Manage distributor onboarding, selection, and compliance according to governance frameworks.
Additional Information & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Proven success in marketing within the biotech/pharmaceutical/Eye Care industry in Sub-Sahara Africa across multiple brands and teams.
- Result-oriented, detail-focused, accurate, agile, and deadline-driven.
- Ability to translate strategies into actionable marketing plans.
- Leadership skills to motivate and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Experience in business case development and product launches.
- Strong understanding of healthcare and FMCG environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of strategic and tactical marketing principles, including digital marketing, with proven operational execution.
- Understanding of finance principles, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in FMCG sectors.
- Experience in Digital Marketing.
