Job description

A well-established producer and supplier of specialty fertilizers is seeking an Agronomist to provide technical support, drive sales, advise farmers on crop production, implement precision farming, and conduct research and economic analyses for seed growers. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and sales acumen. The ideal candidate will be based in Gauteng, North-West or Mpumalanga.

POSITION INFO :

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • Must have a relevant Agriculture qualification (B. Sc., B. Agric., B. Tech.)
  • BASOS accreditation is essential
  • Minimum 2-5 yearsâ sales / technical experience within the plant nutrition industry would be preferred
  • Wide crop experience is advantageous
  • Must have a valid driverâs license and be willing to travel when required
  • Must be able to work independently

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Providing technical advice to farmers to improve their crops.
  • Implementing precision farming practices at farmers to improve their crops and management on the farm.
  • Providing fertilizer and irrigation recommendations and developing programs accordingly.
  • Visiting farmers, hosting farmers' days, and conducting training.
  • Assisting seed growers with production decisions and conducting research trials on nutrition products.
  • Performing economic analysis on seed growers' farming enterprises.
