Saipa Trainee Accountant – Johannesburg

Shift Pursuit has partnered with a firm based in Edenvale, Johannesburg, and they are seeking SAIPA Clerks to join their team.

If you have recently completed your degree and you are eager to start your Clerkship, then we've got an amazing opportunity waiting for you!

Requirements:

1. A relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., BCom in Accounting, Financial Accounting, or equivalent). The degree must meet SAIPA's academic requirements for entry into the Professional Accountant (SA) program.
2. Knowledge on the following topics: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, and Commercial Law.
3. Knowledge of accounting principles and standards (e.g., IFRS or IFRS for SMEs).
4. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks) is advantageous but not required.

Key Performance Areas:

1. Preparing and maintaining financial records.
2. Posting journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
3. Compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
4. Calculating and submitting VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
5. Preparing and submitting income tax returns for individuals and businesses.
6. Assisting with tax planning and compliance.
