About the Role :

As an Article Clerk, you will participate in a structured SAICA learnership program designed to equip you with essential accounting knowledge and practical skills. You'll assist in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and compliance, gaining hands-on experience under expert guidance.

Key Responsibilities :

Bookkeeping & Data Entry :

Capture and process invoices, payments, and journal entries under supervision.

Perform bank, debtors, and creditors reconciliations as assigned.

Maintain organized working papers and ensure proper supporting documentation.

Audit Engagements :

Perform audit engagements in accordance with International Auditing Standards.

Financial Statements Assistance :

Assist in drafting annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs.

Prepare working papers for audit or review engagements.

Support senior accountants in financial analysis and report generation.

Tax & Compliance Support :

Help prepare VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax returns.

Liaise with senior team members to resolve client queries or SARS issues.

Learn to interpret tax laws and apply them appropriately.

Professional Development :

Attend internal and external training, technical workshops, or CPD sessions.

Maintain training logs and records as required by SAICA.

Seek feedback from mentors and supervisors to continuously improve performance.

Requirements

Experience :

Recent graduate or final-year student in Accounting, with the aim of qualifying as a SAICA

Little to no formal work experience is required, though previous internships will be beneficial.

Requirements :

Qualification required : Relevant accounting qualification or proven experience.

Skills and or Characteristics :

A foundational understanding of accounting principles and standards.
