Job Purpose

The Safety Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards in all projects and plant operations by focusing on machine safety, regulatory compliance (OSHA, CE, OSH Act), and implementation of LOTOTO projects.

This role ensures adherence to safety policies, reduces risk, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Safety Oversight : Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with South African and CE standards.
2. Project Compliance : Lead and manage LOTOTO and Capex projects ensuring adherence to OSHA and local laws.
3. Risk Management : Perform hazard identification and implement mitigation strategies.
4. Auditing & Inspection : Conduct safety audits and site inspections regularly.
5. Policy & Training : Create and maintain safety policies and deliver training across the plant.
6. Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with engineering, operations, leadership, and external bodies.
7. Continuous Improvement : Track regulatory changes and drive improvements in safety protocols.
8. Financial Justification : Develop business cases and manage project financials including IRR and payback.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Required)
• Project Management Certification (PMP preferred)
• GCC or PrEng / PrTech registration (Advantageous)

Skills & Knowledge
