Job description

Our Client are looking for Safety Officers (CHSO) and Managers (CHSM) for several upcoming projects.

Location: Various Locations – South Africa and Africa

Industry: Various Industries Mining / Petrochemical / Water Treatment / Civil Construction / Pipelines / Marine and Renewable Energy

Employment Type: Project Based Employment (6 Months to 2 years) successful candidates to be utilized for various future contracts

Purpose: Creation of Database of Candidates for upcoming Greenfield and Brownfields projects.

Summary:

We are looking for Safety Officers (CHSO) and Managers (CHSM) for several upcoming projects for our client who is a giant in the construction sector. The purpose of this exercise is to gather a suitable candidate database and connect with them and maintain relationships in order to be proactive for project start-up. This step would eliminate having to source candidates at short notice at project kick off. Applicants to note that these are not active vacancies and therefore apply with future intent. Eligible candidates will be contacted to gather further information and make necessary arrangements for future engagements.

Qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions) certification.
  • HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) certification.
  • SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Course) certification.
  • Thorough understanding of the Mine Safety Act and relevant mining regulations.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer in a similar industry.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety excellence.

Job Description:

As a Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in our project's success by ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and guidelines. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting risk assessments and hazard identification (HIRA).
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety regulations, including the Mine Safety Act.
  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all project stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Investigating incidents and accidents and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Maintaining accurate safety records and reports.
  • Collaborating with project management and other departments to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Effective cost control through efficient risk management practices.
  • Effective self-management in alignment with company values and leadership initiatives.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows.
  • Effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of all risks and safety processes.
  • Conduct accurate, timely risk and legal inspection audits and communicate recommendations.
  • Conduct fact findings investigations and determine the cause of trends from investigations.
  • Effective and efficient risk administration.
  • Proactive risk identification, mitigation and compliance.
