The Role

The successful candidate will audit and ensure compliance with the Mine’s Health and Safety Act, No 29 of 1996 regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the OHSAS 18001 Management System.

This service is provided to Sandvik Mining & Construction clients (both internal and external), on and off-site, according to company and client requirements and specifications.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and oversee the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures to protect employees and surrounding communities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Conduct studies, audits, and investigations to verify compliance with government safety and health laws, standards, and regulations.
• Investigate accidents and ensure proper closure of incidents.
• Promote safety-conscious work practices and training programs.
• Provide safety performance metrics.
• Manage environmental, health, and safety risks associated with your role and team, reporting and controlling risks as necessary.

Profile Required

• National Diploma in Safety Management (NQF Level 6)
• Certificate of Competence as Safety Officer
• Certificate in Internal Auditing for OHSAS 18001
• Certificate of Competence in First Aid
• Certificate of fitness to work in a surface mining environment
• Valid driver’s license
