Introduction

Are you passionate about creating a safe and compliant work environment in mining operations?

Our client, a respected mining company in Mpumalanga, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional to play a pivotal role in promoting health and safety during mining operations.

Key Responsibilities :

Implement and maintain SHEQ risk management strategies across the site

Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, ISO standards, procedures, and legislation

Coordinate functional areas including Health, Hygiene, and Safety

Support HSE activities during construction and commissioning phases

Conduct risk assessments, audits, and participate in incident investigations

Collaborate with management and project leads to address day-to-day safety concerns

Analyse safety performance data and highlight risks in advance

Recommend and monitor risk mitigation strategies

Document hazards and controls in line with established protocols

Minimum Requirements :

HSE qualification (e.g.

SAMTRAC) – essential

National Diploma in Safety Management or currently working towards one

3–5 years' experience in HSE roles within the mining and / or construction industry

Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation

Valid driver's license – essential
