Job summary

A leading mining company in Bloemfontein is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure optimal safety management and compliance with regulations. The successful candidate will conduct inspections, manage workplace safety, and coordinate emergency drills. Candidates should have a National Diploma in Safety Management, SAMTRAC certification, and at least 2 to 5 years of experience in a mining environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 to 5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in mining.
• Must have a valid driver's license (Code 8).
• Legal liability and A2 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

SAFETY OFFICER - MINING - BLOEMFONTEIN

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct physical condition inspections as per schedule to ensure optimal safety performance management.
2. Control and manage the safety and hygiene of the workplace at the project.
3. Ensure that the physical visibility of workers meets the requirements and standards of the respective project/operating unit.
4. Conduct investigations (damages, MTCs, FACs, near misses, non-conformances), finalize reports, and obtain sign-offs and copies of associated documents.
5. Coordinate emergency drills and conduct internal audits in respective areas.

Academic Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate
• SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2
• National Diploma in Safety Management
• Certificate of training in OHSAS 18001 System Auditing or integrated internal auditing (advantageous)
• Legal liability and A2

Experience and Requirements

• At least 2 to 5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in the mining environment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license (Code 8).
• Passport 360.
