Job Description :

The Safety Officer will promote a safety culture within the healthcare facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to mitigate risks, prevent accidents, and ensure regulatory compliance. A healthcare safety background and excellent communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and evaluate safety policies and procedures aligned with regulations and best practices.
• Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and non-compliance, recommending corrective actions.
• Collaborate with staff to promote safety awareness, training, and protocol adherence.
• Investigate incidents to identify root causes and develop preventive measures.
• Maintain records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness efforts, including drills and communication protocols.
• Stay informed on healthcare safety trends and regulations, recommending improvements.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety goals.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Nursing, or related field.
• At least 3 years of healthcare safety management experience, preferably in hospitals.
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is desirable.
• Knowledge of healthcare safety regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA).
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
