A leading safety consultancy in Durban is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to ensure a safe work environment on construction sites. Job description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment on construction sites, and for implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Safety Planning: Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, including risk assessments and hazard identification.
  2. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  3. Safety Training: Provide safety training and inductions to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  4. Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  5. Safety Reporting: Prepare and submit safety reports, including incident reports, safety statistics, and compliance reports.
  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including employees, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  8. Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Requirements
