A leading construction and access solutions company is seeking a Safety Officer to enhance on-site safety standards. The candidate will be responsible for compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and safety training, ensuring a safe working environment in line with industry regulations. Ideal candidates will hold a SAMTRAC or COMSOC qualification and possess solid experience in safety roles, preferably within construction or mining settings. This contractual role offers competitive remuneration and the opportunity to impact safety practices significantly.
Contract Type: Fixed Term: 12-Month contract

Key Responsibilities:
Promote and monitor compliance with health and safety standards on site
Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits in line with legal and company requirements
Coordinate incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions
Ensure all work permits and legal documentation are in place before work commences
Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training sessions for site personnel
Liaise with the client’s safety team to ensure alignment with site-specific requirements
Ensure scaffold safety protocols are implemented and adhered to on site
Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and registers in accordance with site and company procedures
Assist in compiling and submitting safety documentation to the client and management
Perform general and ad hoc duties as required to support site safety operations
Matric (Grade 12 / NQF Level 4)
SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2
Valid medical fitness certificate
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety role in construction or mining environments
Working knowledge of OHS Act and site-specific safety requirements
Experience working on mining or smelter sites will be advantageous
Advantageous:
Registration with SACPCMP
Valid driver's license with own transport
Fall Protection Plan / Working at Heights certification
Scaffolding inspection or competent person certification
Incident investigation and root cause analysis training
