Job description

Job Title: Safety Officer - Full Time / Onsite

Location: Krugersdorp, Gauteng

Industry: Logistics & Supply Chain

Contract Type: Permanent

Purpose: The Safety Officer will be responsible for health and safety protocols, conducting occupational health assessments, accident investigations, security measures, and safety training programs.

Qualifications
  1. Health & Safety and Occupational Health skills
  2. Accident Investigation and Security knowledge
  3. Safety Training expertise
  4. Experience in safety compliance and regulatory requirements
  5. Certification in Occupational Health and Safety
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  8. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other relevant legislation
  9. Conduct regular workplace risk assessments and audits
  10. Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Department of Labour during inspections and audits
  11. Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training as required by law
  12. Support the implementation and monitoring of the company's Health and Safety Management System
  13. Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of safety policies
  14. Manage employee compliance with safety protocols, including disciplinary procedures for violations
  15. Promote employee awareness and engagement in health and safety matters
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  1. Knowledge of South African labour laws related to health and safety
  2. Experience in managing compliance with statutory reporting and documentation
  3. Certification or training in first aid and emergency response
  4. Ability to develop and deliver safety training aligned with legal requirements
  5. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple compliance tasks and deadlines
  6. Experience working within the Logistics & Supply Chain Industry
