Job description

We are looking for a Safety Officer based in the manufacturing industry in Gqeberha.

Purpose of the Job

Advising and instructing on various SHEE (Safety, Health, Environment, Energy) related topics to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of SHEE awareness.

Minimum Requirements

• Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 Certificate; National Diploma in Safety Management (preferable) or equivalent; knowledge of SAMTRAC, OSHA Act, ISO standards, Environmental, Noise, & Energy regulations.
• Experience: At least 3 years' work experience in a manufacturing environment.

Major Responsibilities and Key Results Areas

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (OSH Act, ISO, Environmental, Noise & Energy) relevant to the site and processes.
• Ensure environmental legislation compliance pertinent to the site and activities.
• Provide SHEE consulting services and advice to manufacturing plants in consultation with the SHEEQ Manager.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), Microsoft Outlook.
• Good communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
• Organizational skills and teamwork.
• Adherence to UGR's and company values.
