Salary: R25 – R35 CTC

Duties:
Minimum requirements:
- Min of 5 years SHE experience in monitoring and auditing
- Experience of implementing Health and Safety in a highly technical, complex industrial environment essential
- Experience managing occupational clinic will be an advantage
- Exposure to and understanding of implementation of OHSAS / Well experienced in Company standards and programs requirements to pass on knowledge
- Proven track record, experience working on MS Office
- A relevant diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety Management
- SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent occupational SHE Training
- First Aid level 2 Basic Certificate
- Fire Prevention Certificate
- Environmental qualification

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

1. Compile and maintain SHE files and other related relevant files.
2. Conduct pre-implementation risk assessments when required and identify risk mitigation measures.
3. Review Contractor Risk Assessment and visit work areas to assess work for compliance to specifications.
4. Provide Health and Safety improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation on Health and Safety concerns.
5. Follow up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented where necessary and ensure that requirements are complied with.
6. Conduct SHE Committee Meetings (plan, scheduled and review).
7. Attend meetings when required on behalf of the Company's Health and Safety department - Management meetings, technical meetings, Steering Committee meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
8. Investigate the root cause of Health and Safety complaints put forward by staff members, customers clients and contractors and report the results to the managers.
9. Coordinate and participate in the investigation of incidents, accidents, OFI and near misses.
10. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly Health and Safety reports, statistics and presentations related to Health and Safety performance.
11. Compile and submit investigation reports to the Managers.
12. Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency.
13. Maintain records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
14. Supervise the regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment and offices.
15. Assist in development and implementing of emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
16. Ensure that these plans are reviewed and updated regularly.
17. Ensure that the emergency plans are communicated to staff and visitors and update registers on training and induction.
18. Provide detailed audit reports with findings.
19. Identify non-conformities and provide corrective action measures to prevent re-occurrence.
20. Monitor and review those corrective measures have been implemented.
21. Assist in developing all the required documentation, operational checks, and reports for the SHE Management System to be compliant with OHSAS and ISO standards.
22. Review and amend standards, specifications, policies, and procedures for approval.
23. Ensure that employees, contractors, and site visitors receive induction before entering the operations.
24. Monitor contractor performance and work by conducting continuous visits and audits and compiling relevant reports.
25. Escalate matters of continuous non-conformance.
26. Establish Safe Work Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Instructions for tasks as and when required.
27. Monitor the implementation of Safe Work Procedures, Instructions, and protocols to determine continuous improvement.
28. Planning and coordinating SHE related legal training for staff and appointments.
29. Maintaining and updating all relevant SHE department administrative folders pertaining to accountabilities & responsibilities.
30. Ensure accurate registration and record keeping of all legislative requirements.
31. Management of PPE store and PPE issue.
32. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time-to-time by management.
33. Compile project specific emergency response and preparedness plans.
34. Conduct site safety Inductions.
35. Review and update the Health and Safety plan.
36. Injury and absenteeism management.
37. SHE awareness and wellness program management.
38. Environmental management and ensuring legal compliance in HCS waste management.
39. Management of onsite clinic.
40. Management of lifting equipment.
41. Management of hygiene surveys.
42. Management of all required permits.
43. Management of electronic system (DMS), administrator and training.
44. Management of department deadlines and set KPI's.
45. All COVID officer related duties as stipulated in legislation.
46. Management of wall of fame.
