Key Roles and Responsibilities :
Maintain Safe, Healthy, and Risk-Free Working Environment
- Ensure safety, health, & environmental legislation compliance
- Ensure compliance with VPO Standards for the environment and safety pillars
- Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
Manage Human Resources
- Develop employees based on identified needs through OPR sessions
- Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate
- Manage technical pipeline for safety and environment team roles
- Support apprenticeship and artisan development for the site
Leads the Management and Implementation of the Safety and Environment VPO Pillar in the Plant
- Ensure requirements of all 23 Blocks of the Safety Pillar are implemented
- Perform Safety and environment monitoring and audits
- Conduct regular VPO Safety and environment Pillars' audits and reviews using the Pillar Questionnaires
- Perform legal Compliance Audits
Monitoring and Analysis
- Ensure all Safety and environment Incidents and Observations are captured and reported in Credit360
- Manage problem-solving processes for Safety and environment incidents
- Implement effective problem solving and loop closure for all Safety and environment reports in Cr360
- Use Safety App or equivalent system efficiently to raise incidents and observations
- Perform Loss and waste analysis on Safety and environment incidents
- Develop action plans to address Safety and environment observations based on priority
- Monitor safety and environment using Supervisor or Manager Check Lists
Safety and Environment Strategies
- Implement Behavioural Safety Program at all levels
- Implement targeted safety and environment interventions for critical blocks
- Apply relevant Safety and environment Standards & SOPs
- Develop and coordinate Safety and environment Investment Programmes
- Implement Safety and Environment VPO and related GOPs
- Manage progress according to set glide paths
- Implement E&S Dashboards and sustain improvements
Project and Financial Management
- Manage small Safety and Environment site Capex projects
- Ensure safety and environment compliance during project execution
- Complete projects on time and within budget
- Ensure safety and environment compliance of new equipment during commissioning
Financial Performance
- Manage ZBB and CAPEX budgeting for Safety and Environment
- Control departmental costs
- Review financial results
- Maximize By-product revenue
Knowledge and Awareness
- Lead and participate in World Safety and Environment Day/Week activities
- Share safety and environment alerts with teams
- Provide mandatory safety and environment training to all employees
- Train team leaders and managers on department-specific safety & environment requirements
- Ensure effective induction and training for new employees, contractors, and service providers
- Identify training needs and coordinate programs
Business Continuity and Risk Management
- Develop and standardize emergency and disaster recovery plans (BCP)
- Implement approaches to mitigate obsolescence
- Share best practices for Safety and environment management
- Ensure implementation of safety management programs for Ammonia, Steam, Dust, and Electrical processes
Safety, UPP, and Cost CAPEX Portfolios
- Plan for maintenance and replacement of plant equipment and infrastructure
Primary challenges include ensuring conformance to standards, fostering a safety-first culture, managing budgets, leading safety in project execution, and ensuring legal compliance.
People management involves facilitating team problem-solving, developing team goals, conducting reviews, and training team members.
Minimum Requirements :
- 3-year tertiary qualification (e.g., B Tech in Mechanical or Electrical, BSc in Mechanical or Electrical)
- Qualification in Safety and Environment Management and Auditing
- Successful completion of ABInBev trainee program (Brewing, Packaging, Logistics, Maintenance, or E&F)
- Government Certificate of Competence or equivalent legal requirement for safety and environment responsible persons
- Minimum 5 years experience in a FMCG environment, with safety and environment management experience
- 3-5 years experience in a facilitator or controller role in safety/environment jobs
