Job description

Job Description: NDT X-Ray Technician

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing X-Ray (Fluoroscope-Real Time) testing and visual inspections on pipes. They will monitor inspections and job cards to ensure compliance with required standards. The candidate will report directly to the NDT Team Leader.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Operating the real-time X-Ray machine.
  2. Conducting daily inspections of the X-Ray machine to ensure there are no water leaks.
  3. Recording and completing X-Ray reports for all passed, repaired, and failed pipes as per the required Work Instruction (WI) / Quality Control Plan (QCP).
  4. Identifying and marking all defects for repair using a paint mark system.
  5. Reporting weld problems promptly to production for rectification.
  6. Making quick and accurate interpretations and decisions.
  7. Performing in-process visual inspections on welds when X-ray is not required, and recording defects as per work instructions or procedures.
  8. Ensuring adherence to safe working procedures at all times.
  9. Monitoring calibration expiry dates of safety radiation monitors and reporting to the Team Leader and/or Calibration Officer.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Department of Health (DOH) safety certificate.
  • RT Level I qualification (SAIW, SANDE, or equivalent).
  • Welding Level I qualification and/or experience in visual welding inspection (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Radiation Safety requirements.
