Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Research Engineer for its R&D lab in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will design, build, test robotic systems, develop control and navigation, integrate computer vision, and write software in C++ and Python.

You will document results and contribute to IP development in a fast-paced environment. You should have a bachelor's or master's in a related field and at least 4 years in robotics R&D, ROS experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of robotics research and development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics applications.
• Hands-on experience with ROS is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test robotic systems and automation hardware prototypes.
• Develop and implement control algorithms, motion planning, and navigation for robots.
• Integrate computer vision for perception, object recognition, and mapping.
• Write robust, efficient robotics software in C++ and Python.
• Conduct performance testing and validate robotic systems across conditions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to meet project goals.
• Research and evaluate new robotics technologies and methodologies.
