Job description

Our client is seeking to employ a Roaming Country Manager to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with travel into Africa. The Roaming Country General Manager will be responsible for maintaining a leadership role and ensuring the accomplishment of the organisation's strategic business plan objectives. This includes developing and executing a sales and marketing program to significantly increase market penetration, managing the collections environment, enhancing processes and infrastructure for growth, and disseminating the company’s business and performance culture throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:
Marketing:
  1. Develop and implement marketing campaigns to drive retail sales in a cost-effective manner.
  2. Manage the sales team daily, weekly, and monthly to ensure achievement of targets.
  3. Conduct market research and assessments to identify new product areas.
  4. Oversee and train all sales staff to foster an entrepreneurial mindset.
  5. People management: Oversee staff development to ensure growth and team integration.
  6. Recruit and hire effective individuals to achieve goals and promote an entrepreneurial culture.
  7. Provide relevant training and development to enhance sales performance.
  8. Prepare and maintain business plans focusing on sales growth.
  9. Coordinate with Group IT to ensure maintenance and readiness of office information systems and infrastructure.
  10. Oversee day-to-day administrative functions to ensure smooth operations with a sales-driven approach.
  11. Stay informed on relevant legislation and regulations to ensure compliance and support growth.
Management and Oversight:
  1. Collaborate with Group Finance to manage financial and business planning activities.
  2. Develop budgets, forecasts, and management reports centered on sales performance.
  3. Collect and communicate business metrics to drive sales growth.
  4. Manage the entire collections function, including primary, secondary, and pre-legal clients, with a focus on maximizing collections and maintaining strong relationships with government and employers.
  5. Develop and maintain harmonious relationships within government and the private sector to gather market intelligence and boost sales.
Requirements: Qualifications and Skills
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (such as a B Com or B Com Law Degree) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of relevant experience with a strong sales and entrepreneurial focus.
  • Extensive sales-driven background is essential.
  • Prior experience managing operations across various African countries is essential.
  • Experience in the Microfinance Industry is highly beneficial.
  • Extensive knowledge of the financial landscape in African regions is essential.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across African regions.
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal, is required.
