Job summary

Department of Roads and Transport in Pretoria (Gauteng) is hiring for the Roads Maintenance and Fleet Directorate. Ten posts are available across Tshwane/Johannesburg areas, with shifts and travel to sites across Gauteng.

No prior work experience is required for NQF level 1 or Abet level 4 qualification. Selected candidates will perform routine road construction, maintenance, sign installation, and road furniture upkeep, while adhering to safety standards and reporting losses.

Qualifications

• NQF level 1 or Abet level 4 certificate, no work experience required.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and write.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine road construction and maintenance per approved work programmes.
• Carry out pothole patching, crack sealing, surfacing and re-gravelling.
• Construct and maintain earthworks, culverts, drains and channels.
• Install road signs, markings, and road furniture.
• Operate tools and small plant; safeguard tools and materials.
• Travel and sleep near project sites across Gauteng.
